'I'm at my wits end'

In September 2023, the basement of Marieke Severens Gallery in Maastricht was severely flooded. In response to this event, the gallery commissioned a site-specific installation titled I’m at my wits end, running from May to December 2024. With funding from Gemeente Maastricht, this transforming installation incorporates local Euregio clays, fired at varying temperatures, which absorb moisture and gradually decay over the course of several months. As the clays dry, they aid in the natural process of drying out the walls of the basement gallery, creating a dynamic interplay between art and environment.
