Begreifen explores the trans-generational continuity of language, perception, and expression—threads that are passed down from grandmothers to mothers, and from mothers to daughters. The residency at Oda park in the summer of 2023 involved engaging deeply with the local community of Venray, conducting workshops that facilitated a profound exploration of personal histories, time, and place within families. The residency culminated in a series of biographical works, a total of 7 pairs of hands, that reflect the intimate stories of the participants, offering insights into their unique relationships with the location. These narratives became a lens through which the artist sought to understand how spaces shape our sense of belonging and identity, revealing the ways in which the physical and cultural landscapes influence our connection to both place and memory.
